Having an ambitious vision
The vision for Blue Rock Search was to create a firm that would “Change Lives and Organizations One Relationship at a Time.”
Chris Rios, Nancy Estep-Critchett, and Ruben Moreno gathered in a rent-by-the-hour conference room in Sarasota, Florida, in 2015 to combine their talents. Although they came from different backgrounds, these three seasoned businesspeople shared core values and expertise in executive search. Prior to entering executive recruiting, Chris had enjoyed a successful career as a chef. Having owned several business services companies, Nancy had a deep understanding of franchising. As a manager of HR teams for globally recognized brands, Ruben worked in large corporate environments.
Their combined experience ranged from operating standards, efficiency, shaping corporate culture, and entrepreneurship. Additionally, they shared a vision to create an executive search firm that would change the lives of its employees, clients, and candidates.

The Recreation Partners in Cleveland, Ohio, were acquired and fully integrated into Blue Rock’s HR practice in 2019. Having successfully completed a one-year certification process, Blue Rock was awarded its MBE Certification in 2021, after being named to the Hunt Scanlon HR/Diversity Recruiting Power 65 in 2020.
Since opening its doors, Blue Rock Search has grown beyond the three-person team. As well as having offices in Sarasota, Florida, Knoxville, Tennessee, and Cleveland, Ohio, Blue Rock has team members working virtually across the country.
Chris Rios, CX Practice Leader, and Founding Partner passed away in June 2022. Having led the company’s efforts to create a superior customer experience for both candidates and clients, Chris leaves a legacy built on values he helped create.
